Environmental “Fasts” and Events for Lent

From Pennsylvania Interfaith Power and Light (http://www.paipl.org):

Starting March 1st, the annual Ecumenical Carbon Fast offers opportunities to honor the season of Lent by mindfully refraining from adding to our personal and communal carbon footprints (With thanks to the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ for the resources.)

March 3rd-4th, sundown to sundown, the National Day of Unplugging offers a breather from the nonstop news cycles and pinging texts, opening space for the spirit to move in and through us. (With thanks to REBOOT, a non-profit that creates vital, resonant, and meaningful Jewish experiences.)

March 25th, 8:30-9:30pm, Earth Hour, a worldwide celebration of the darkness as major landmarks – such as the Sydney Opera House, and small spaces – like your living room — go dark for an hour.  We encourage you to grab some friends, host a house party, boogie down to some acoustic music, tell some stories, and celebrate the equinox and the arrival of spring.
