Power Local Green Jobs Day of Action—December 7
December 7, 2017
Throughout this year, we’ve seen indications that PECO is making small changes as a result of public scrutiny.
Small things like creating an internal team to work on issues related to solar, announcing a jobs training grant with lots of fanfare about solar, and reducing outrageous solar hook-up fees. These are just some of the many shifts we’ve been tracking. The larger movement we are part of includes service groups, advocates, solar installers, and others who are all pushing in different ways as Power Local Green Jobs takes to the streets. And together, we are winning.
But these small changes are not enough. PECO needs to commit to big change, to rebuild for racial and economic justice, and to protect our future. Reaching at least 20% local, clean energy by 2025 should not be hard for a utility that profits over a million dollars a day.
So Power Local Green Jobs is revving up for a day of action on December 7. We will demand Big Change for Green Jobs at four different action sites across PECO’s territory, in Philadelphia, Berwyn, Phoenixville, and Warminster.
This weekend, join an art build in Germantown to make props for the action, or come to a planning meeting in the next few weeks.
