Join the No Muslim Ban, No Refugee Ban Week of Action—January 27-February 3

January 27, 2018 - February 3, 2018

From the Interfaith Immigration Coalition (http://www.interfaithimmigration.org):

January 27th will mark one year that refugees and Muslims have been targeted by a slew of bans and negative policy changes. For the past year, we’ve seen first hand the painful human impacts of these policies. Our capacity as a nation to welcome refugees – a core tenet across faith traditions – is being threatened. On January 27, 2017, thousands took to the streets and flooded airports where people from Muslim-majority countries were being detained and, in many cases, sent back. Since then, the administration has issued multiple refugee and Muslim bans and has dismantled the U.S. refugee program.

January 27, 2018 is a critical date, as we remember the actions we took one year ago and re-invest in our commitment to stand with refugees, Muslims, and all people targeted by this administration. As people who care about refugees, we must rise up against discrimination to send a continual, powerful message to the administration and to Congress: We oppose the refugee and Muslim bans We support refugee resettlement. We demand that the U.S. welcome each and every one of the 45,000 refugees we promised to resettle this year. To join the power of collective action, please check out our No Muslim Ban, No Refugee Ban Week of Action Toolkit here: https://greateras1.org/no-muslim-ban-no-refugee-ban-week-action-toolkit/.

That’s why CWS has joined with other immigrants’ and refugee rights groups to launch the We Are All America Campaign, and collectively we are calling for a week of action from January 27th through February 3rd. Put your event on the map at http://www.weareallusa.org/events and take action today at https://greateras1.org/now-is-the-time-stop-trump-from-dismantling-refugee-resettlement/ to tell Congress to oppose the administration’s multiple refugee bans and all-time low cap on refugee admissions. You will receive a phone call from a (202) number that will connect you with your 2 Senators and 1 Representative. Alternatively, you can call to these offices directly—find contact information:

Here’s a sample script: “I’m your constituent from [CITY/TOWN]. I strongly oppose President Trump’s continued refugee and Muslim bans, as well as the all-time low cap on refugee admissions. I urge you to do everything in your power to see that the administration resettle at least the 45,000 refugees they have set as the cap for 2018. I call on you to protect the U.S. refugee resettlement program and stand against the refugee and Muslim bans.”
