Invitation to Use Free, New Half Hour Video on Drone Warfare for Congregations

From the Coalition for Peace Action (http://www.peacecoalition.org/):

INDW has been working for months to produce films to educate congregations on the rapidly growing issue of drone warfare.  We have just finished a 30 minute film Safe and Moral: War, Peace, Drone Warfare, and the Religious Community (http://interfaithdronenetwork.org/), which introduces the topic to congregations. We have also produced a study guide to facilitate a discussion after the group watches the film.

We have four more half hour videos still under production, which we expect to send to you within the next month or two.

This first film is an excellent introduction to the issue. It includes Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, (U.S. Army, retired), who was the Chief of Staff for former Secretary of State Colin Powell, and Dr. Maryann Cusimano Love of Catholic University describing the history and challenges of lethal drones.

The film also includes human rights experts discussing the secrecy of the U.S. drone program and the rapid proliferation of armed drones to as many as 80 nations, as well as to terrorist groups like ISIS and Hamas. It ends with Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, and Muslim faith leaders briefly describing their tradition’s approach to issues of war and peace.

Click here to watch the 90 second preview of this new film, and click here if you are interested in previewing the full 30 minute video for possible use in your congregation, and/or for your personal education on the issue. If you do decide to use the video for an educational program in a congregation, click here for the leader study guide for background and suggested questions.

If you click the second link for the full video, you will be asked for your email so we can stay in touch with you, and also offer support–including funding of up to $100 for equipment rental, refreshments, etc.–if you show it to your congregation.

Feel free to call (609) 924-5022 or e-mail cfpa@peacecoalition.org if you have any questions.
