Join the Right-Side Up Campaign and Support Fixing the Tax Code

From Prosperity Now (https://prosperitynow.org/):

With the health care battle behind us, Congress is now pivoting its full attention to tax reform this fall. America’s upside-down tax code continues to be one of the biggest drivers of wealth inequality. Each year, Congress spends hundreds of billions of dollars to provide tax benefits to the wealthy. Prosperity Now launched the Turn It Right-Side Up Campaign in 2015 to mobilize advocates in our collective quest to make the federal tax code more equitable. With Congress and the Administration putting forth tax plans that would give even more wealth to the wealthy, it’s more important than ever that we push back against our current upside-down tax code.

President Trump’s proposed tax plan would give the average family earning under $25,000 per year a $40 tax cut, or a 0.3% boost in after-tax income. The top 0.1% earning above $3.4 million per year would get an average tax cut of $937,700, or a 13.3% boost in after-tax income.

Additionally, Republicans in Congress have proposed cuts to programs that help lower-income Americans thrive in order to cover the costs of extraordinary tax cuts for the wealthy and for large corporations. We need your help to articulate an alternative vision—one in which our government invests to help everyone thrive—or these harmful proposals will become the law of the land.

Take a look at our most recent tax reform proposal that was presented to the Senate Finance Committee. We hope that you’ll join our Right-Side Up campaign and raise your voice to Congress to create a more equitable tax code that invests in those with the most need. Here’s how you can help:

Prosperity Now will continue to support our community members in every way we can to protect our most vulnerable families. We hope you will join our campaign to stay on top of opportunities to advocate against dangerous threats to the programs that help these families thrive. In the current policy environment, we will not win every battle, but together we can put prosperity within reach for all.
