Journey to Self-Sufficiency—CAAP Video Series

From the Community Action Association of Pennsylvania (http://www.thecaap.org):

CAAP is pleased to announce that we have created three new videos titled Journey to Self-Sufficiency. We will release one video per week for the next three weeks. In August, CAAP interviewed six Community Action clients from six different Community Action Agencies located throughout the state of Pennsylvania. During our conversations, these hardworking individuals discussed how it feels to live at low-income, the resources they leveraged to return to the middle-class, and their vision for the future.

The first video, Journey to Self-Sufficiency – Part 1, focuses on Leah Gates from the Greater Erie Community Action Committee and Allison Perry from Bucks County Opportunity Council. Ms. Gates and Ms. Perry discuss how support from their Community Action Agency enabled them to further their educational goals, which ultimately boosted their earnings potential. The second video, Journey to Self-Sufficiency – Part 2, focuses on Aisha Gaffney from the Mayor’s Office of Community Empowerment & Opportunity in Philadelphia and Rhonda Wilkins from Westmoreland Community Action. Ms. Gaffney and Ms. Wilkins each leveraged a specific Community Action program that empowered them to reach financial independence. CLICK HERE to watch the 3-minute video.

The third video will be released soon.

You have CAAP’s permission to utilize these videos for purposes such as trainings, meetings, advocacy, social media/website posting, etc. You can also download the mp4 file by using the link for each video.

We hope you enjoy these stories, but more importantly, we hope you share them.
