No Movement for Special Standing Gun Legislation

From Heeding God’s Call (http://www.heedinggodscall.org):

The ‘special standing’ legislation sought by the gun lobby has failed to date to gain passage during the current session of the PA House of Representatives in Harrisburg, which adjourned on October 26 without taking action.

As you may recall, this legislation, which was enacted at the very end of the 2012-14 legislative session, was overturned on a technical issue and reintroduced in the current session, would provide ‘special standing’ to unrelated individuals and organizations to sue counties or municipalities that enact new local gun violence prevention legislation stronger than existing state law and recover costs for doing so if successful.

This is unlikely to be the end of the road on this legislation and Heeding God’s Call will continue to watch it closely.  We will reach out to encourage you to take action if and when we believe it’s needed, but not before, as is our policy.

Although we expect the gun lobby will be back with this legislation, today is a very good day.  Thank you for your continued attention and support.
