Act to Protect the Johnson Amendment—Tax Package Calls for Exempting Houses of Worship

From Americans United for Separation of Church and State (http://www.au.org):

We need you to take action today.

The House of Representatives just released its tax-reform package, and there is language included that exempts houses of worship from the Johnson Amendment — a provision of the tax code that protects the integrity of tax-exempt organizations, including houses of worship, by ensuring they do not endorse or oppose candidates.

Today’s tax-reform proposal would change the law so that houses of worship – but not other non-profits –  could be pressured for endorsements or used by political parties and candidates seeking power for personal gain.

Go to https://secure.everyaction.com/KqKvxCgNv0OkyEsY6P5ecw2 and tell your Member of Congress and President Trump that Americans don’t want houses of worship in the business of endorsing of opposing political parties and candidates.

President Trump and some Members of Congress are trying to change the tax code so they can pressure houses of worship for endorsements. We can’t let this happen. Please take action today!

Thank you for your help protecting the Johnson Amendment and the separation of church and state.
