Share Your Stories to Protect Overtime Pay

From the Economic Policy Institute (http://www.epi.org/):

Last year, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced a major change in who is eligible to receive overtime pay. Thanks to your hard work, DOL raised the overtime salary threshold from $23,660 to $47,476―making 4.9 million working people newly eligible to receive the overtime pay they deserve, and strengthening the rights of 7.6 million more.

Unfortunately, due to lawsuits from the Chamber of Commerce and attempts by the Trump administration to undo this rule, millions of working people have been left in limbo―not receiving the overtime pay they deserve.

In order to defend this rule, which benefits 12.5 million working people, we’re collecting stories of people who are affected by changes in overtime pay.

  • Do you get paid an annual salary of between $23,000 and $48,000?
  • Does your employer ask you to work more than 40 hours in a week?

If so, we want to hear from you! Go to http://www.epi.org/action/stand-up-for-overtime-pay-share-your-story/ to share your story with EPI and help us defend the rights of millions of working people to earn the overtime pay they deserve.

EPI and our partners have already submitted over 27,000 comments to the Department of Labor in support of the new overtime rule. And we’re not done! But comments alone won’t do it.

We need to shine a spotlight on the Trump administration’s attempts to take overtime pay away from millions of working people. And that means telling your stories to the media and the Department of Labor.

If we bring public pressure to bear, DOL won’t dare side with the Chamber of Commerce over millions of working people.
