Tell Congress: Support Funding for Climate Solutions

From Interfaith Power and Light (http://interfaithpowerandlight.org):

Right now, representatives from more than 200 countries are meeting at the international climate change conference in Bonn, Germany to effectively implement the Paris climate agreement.

Today we learned that war-torn Syria plans to join the 2015 Paris agreement to address global warming, isolating the United States as the only nation in the world opposed to the Paris climate agreement. Even as the Trump administration tries to take the U.S. out of the Paris agreement, Congress can still provide international climate funding in our budget.

Let your Member of Congress know you support funding for climate solutions at http://salsa4.salsalabs.com/o/50836/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=23571!

This is a crucial moment. Given the Trump administration’s decision to withdraw the United States from the 2015 Paris agreement, it is more important than ever to show that people of faith are still committed to caring for God’s Creation. We will not be silent as we watch the devastating impact that climate change is having on vulnerable and at-risk communities, at home in the United States and overseas.

While representatives from around the world gather in Germany to build on the Paris agreement, the U.S. Congress will also have an opportunity to faithfully live out its moral duty to care for its citizens. Over the next month, Congress will be deciding how to fund the federal government. This process includes funding for programs such as international climate funding to support developing countries as they work to adapt to a changing climate and develop clean energy economies.

Please contact your Member of Congress and urge them to use their tools to protect creation and our vulnerable sisters and brothers by supporting funding for climate solutions.
