Tell the EPA to Protect Our Communities from Pollution and Climate Change

From Interfaith Power and Light (http://interfaithpowerandlight.org):

Last month, Donald Trump issued an executive order instructing the EPA and other federal agencies to “reform” (read: dismantle) regulations that protect our environment and health. But it’s not as simple as that, and the EPA has a public process it must implement before any regulatory changes. And now, the EPA has begun a public comment period to get feedback on the order. This is our chance to tell EPA NOT to turn back the clock on the climate progress we have made over the past decade at http://salsa4.salsalabs.com/o/50836/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=21890.

Rolling back important protections for our air quality is not only foolhardy, it will cost lives. From regulating auto emissions to banning the use of DDT, from cleaning up toxic waste to protecting the ozone layer, from increasing recycling to revitalizing inner-city brownfields, the EPA’s achievements have resulted in cleaner air, purer water, and better protected land.

Sent a letter now to the EPA- Tell them to protect our communities from pollution and climate change.

This issue goes to the heart of our spiritual values and our call serve the poor, protect life, and to be good stewards of Creation. Over the past decade, we’ve made important progress: EPA actions have helped curb pollution from power plants, mileage standards are making our cars more fuel efficient, and clean air and water standards have saved lives.  We have much more to do, but we should be building on our progress, not reversing it.

Tell the EPA: we don’t want to go back. Continue forward with our life-saving and Creation-protecting environmental laws.
