Sign Petition: Tell Trump to Continue Affordable Care Act Subsidies

From the Every Child Matters Education Fund (http://www.everychildmatters.org/):

Just when we think the healthcare fight is over, we hear about antsy insurance companies and states losing ACA marketplace options.

So, what’s this latest wrinkle?

It has to do with cost sharing reduction (CSR) payments–payments the government is obligated to make to insurers under the Affordable Care Act that help low-income families afford healthcare insurance. If it doesn’t make these payments, as President Trump continues to threaten, the consequences will be dire. According to the Congressional Budget Office, insurers will pull out of the ACA marketplace; premiums will go up by 20% in 2018 and 25% in 2020, and many more people, including children, will be uninsured. Some 6 million people in the marketplace benefit from CSRs.

According to Robert Greenstein of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, “The President has been explicit that he’s making these threats… as a political bargaining chip.”

Every Child Matters is calling on the Trump Administration to stop playing games with our healthcare and make these CSR payments. They need to focus on stabilizing the health insurance markets so that all Americans can get covered.
