Wages Rose 0.5 Percent for Bottom 90 Percent in 2016

New wage data—analyzed by EPI’s Lawrence Mishel and Julia Wolfe—show that wages are trending in the right direction, narrowing ever so slightly the gaping inequalities forged over the last 40 years. Annual wages of the bottom 90 percent of wage earners grew 0.5 percent from 2015 to 2016, while wages declined by 6.3 percent for those in the top 0.1 percent.
