From the Interfaith Immigration Coalition (http://www.interfaithimmigration.org):

Yesterday, the Pennsylvania Senate Local Government Committee passed HB 1885, legislation that will result in discrimination toward our immigrant-discriminationimmigrant brothers and sisters. We have another chance to stop this bill from passing the Pennsylvania Senate. However, it will take all of us working together to stop this discriminatory legislation from being enacted and harming our communities.

We are asking faith leaders across Pennsylvania to demonstrate their values of welcome and acceptance and sign our faith leader letter urging Senators to vote NO on HB 1885.

As people of faith, we are called to love our neighbors and stand with them against discrimination. HB 1885 does not reflect the welcoming communities across Pennsylvania. Our faith calls us to treat immigrants with the respect and dignity we all deserve. HB 1885 does the exact opposite by dividing communities and casting immigrants as threats rather than contributors.

Sign our faith leader letter today and show that this legislation does not reflect our values as people of faith! This bill will not make our communities any safer and instead puts general public safety at greater risk. HB 1885 will erode trust between the immigrant community and local police, and force crime victims to make the horrible choice between staying silent or risk being separated from their family when they report crime.

HB 1885 could be voted on by the Pennsylvania Senate as early as Tuesday. Your voice makes a difference. Please call your Senator today and urge them to oppose HB 1885!

Join us today as we stand with our immigrant brothers and sisters against this discriminatory legislation.
