Tell Congress: Prioritize Working Families in the NAFTA Renegotiations

From the Citizens Trade Campaign (http://www.citizenstrade.org):

A pivotal sixth round of NAFTA talks is already underway and the Trump administration still hasn’t proposed adding the tough labor and environmental standards needed to stop companies from moving jobs to Mexico to pay workers poverty wages and dump toxins.

TAKE ACTION NOW at https://petitions.signforgood.com/GreenNAFTA:  Please join us in telling Congress that our nation’s trade agreements should prioritize good-paying jobs and a safe environment — not corporations that outsource jobs and pollute our air, water and climate.

As written, NAFTA eliminates jobs, erodes wages, increases pollution and undermines critical environmental and public health protections — harming working families at home and abroad.  It does all that so corporate elites can further pad their pockets.

U.S. negotiators have proposed some important changes in the NAFTA negotiations, but corporate lobbyists are doing all they can to stop those reforms. Meanwhile, corporate demands to add NAFTA terms that undermine important consumer protections on medicines, big banks, privacy and food safety appear to be on the Trump agenda.

On the most critical change to NAFTA that’s needed, at best, we’ve heard crickets.  The Trump administration still hasn’t agreed to add the strong labor and environmental standards with swift and certain enforcement that are needed to protect jobs at home, protect human rights abroad and lift wages continent-wide.

SIGN OUR PETITION: Please add your name to the growing list of people demanding a NAFTA replacement that puts working families and the planet before corporate profits!

Together, we can make a difference.
