Tell Congress: Don’t Pass Budget that Includes Drilling in the Arctic Refuge

From the Alaska Wilderness League (http://www.alaskawild.org):

The Senate has let us down, voting to advance drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as part of a larger budget-tax bill scheme.

Make no mistake. This threat to the iconic Arctic Refuge is the most serious we have ever faced. A vote to remove drilling from the budget came just a few votes short today, with GOP Senator Susan Collins joining all but one Senate Democrat to stand up for the Refuge.

We can still prevail in this fight but we need your help. Every American who cares about defending the wildest place left in America and the polar bears, caribou and countless other species who depend on it needs to speak out at http://act.alaskawild.org/sign/norefugedrilling_budget/.

You see, the congressional budget is not a done deal yet. There will be more steps and votes ahead before a final tax bill can become law.

With your support, we will run Refuge ads in key districts, organize events in front of congressional offices and hold more events like this one where Senator Maria Cantwell said “Destroying a national wildlife refuge is not the answer to our nation’s energy problems. Fortunately, all previous attempts to destroy this pristine arctic ecosystem have failed and we will keep fighting until this attempt fails too.”

And, we’re hosting a rally in DC on Wednesday, October 25!

Send your message today so we have thousands of voices raised by our Wednesday rally!

Your voice will be joined with thousands of Gwich’in people, almost 100 athletes, and more than 300 businesses and organizations publicly opposing Refuge drilling
