Act TODAY: Tell Your Representative—Oppose ACA Repeal and Replacement

From the Coalition on Human Needs (http://www.chn.org):

House committees have approved an extreme bill that will deny health coverage to millions of people, and make additional millions pay thousands of dollars more for their insurance – more than many will be able to pay. This bill is even more shocking because it hands tax cuts of at least $600 billion to the rich and to insurance, drug, and other health industry corporations.  It is headed to the House floor tomorrow. But it is not a done deal:  hospitals, physicians, and other powerful players are voicing opposition.

Please join in. Please tell your representative to oppose the health care repeal legislation at http://org.salsalabs.com/o/125/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=21321, then spread the word to everyone you know.

Please consider making a call and/or sending a fax as well—in fact, this may be even more important. Find contact information for your Representative at http://www.house.gov.

Here is a script you can use/adapt: As your constituent, I strongly urge you to oppose the legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act being considered in the House. This legislation breaks promises to preserve affordable coverage, while denying or worsening coverage for millions and providing tax cuts for the wealthy and for insurance and medical industries totaling at least $600 billion over the next decade. It will end the Medicaid expansion that covers 11 million people and drastically restrict federal Medicaid payments to states. It will make low- and middle-income people pay thousands of dollars more for their insurance, making it unaffordable for many. Our communities need you to oppose this harmful legislation.

If you have a personal story you can add to the letter or your call, that would be even better!

Thanks for your faithful witness.
