Water sustains our physical and spiritual wellbeing. Water is life. Water is sacred. Yet, water is being threatened. In President Trump’s budget proposal, vital Environmental Protection Agency programs that care for our water will be dramatically reduced or zeroed out. Now, Congress is deciding whether and how to invest in clean, safe water.
Will you pray with us for water?
This August and September, we are inviting the Creation Justice community to pray about water. We invite you to make a commitment to hold a prayer or blessing on the theme of water before Congress’ September 30th budget deadline.
We encourage communities to try to integrate the water blessing in what you already have planned in your community. From Flint to Navajoland, many communities know from heart-wrenching experience: We cannot take water for granted. We need to take care of water. Water is life.
Together, we have set a goal for the Creation Justice community to host ten water prayers or blessings in two months. Can we count on you? Here is sign up information: please let us know by the end of August. When you sign up, we will help equip you with a toolkit of water prayer ideas, as well as help you notify your member of Congress that you are part of a community that shows reverence for water.
